Chip Repairs

Did you know that most chips can be fixed and covered by your insurance?
Subtitle
Following proper precautions will help ensure a good repair.
Do not touch the break. The oil in our skin does not mix with the resin and can cause the resin to not perform properly.
Cover the break as soon as possible. Clear scotch tape works great. (If you in our area, stop by and grab a chip saver card)! If a chip is wet, it cannot be repaired until it dries out. Do not cover a wet chip. Also, the cleaner the break, the better the repair. Do not clean the window prior to arrival for your appointment. We will clean it for you. If you have damage to your windshield AVOID: -running the hot defrost on a cold windshield -AC on a hot windshield -Cold/hot water (carwash) -Parking in direct sunlight for extended period of time
Do Not apply anything to the break (IE: clear nail polish or super glue). These will not stop the break from spreading and will result in not being able to have the chip repaired.

Understanding Your Windshield Features

Heated Wiper Park
Heat lines that run under the area the wipers set when turned off. Some are more obvious than others.
Rain/Light Sensor
Small gel pack adhered to the windshield. They can be various different shapes including round, oval, rectangle, or square. They are always up by the rearview mirror but can be above, below, to the left or the right.
Heads Up Display
An ADAS feature that actually projects information onto the windshield such as speed, temperature, or even navigation.
Lane Departure Warning
Will notify you if you are drifting between lanes, without using your turn signal. It may beep, vibrate, or show a picture on your navigation system. It is the shape of a trapezoid.
Humidity Sensor
Detects moisture in the air and regulates fresh air intake. This is typically a 'Black Box' on the passenger side of the rear view mirror or located inside the rearview mirror plastic.
